Mom truly cherished her family. She had the blessing of having her two sisters live nearby, so this meant she had a lot of nephews and a niece that she could dote on, and then when my sister and I were born she only embraced it more fully. She always supported us in all we did, even if we bombed, but she gave us an A for effort, and we went on to the next thing. She supported dad with the business. She would travel as often as she could to visit the families in SC and KY. She would go out of her way to make every holiday and birthday one of a kind. Mom would welcome our friends into the family, not because she had to, but because if they were important to us, then they were important to her and she wanted to be a part of us in all she could.
